The 5th International Africa Avocado Congress, known as Avocado Africa 2025, is set to take place from May 27 to 30, 2025, at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. Organized by the Avocado Society of Kenya in collaboration with regional and international partners, the event aims to enhance competitiveness and trade within the avocado industry, focusing on technology, business, and knowledge exchange.
This year's theme, "Avocado Africa: A Convergence of Technology and Business for Increased Competitiveness and Trade," reflects the event's focus on combining innovation with commercial opportunities. The congress is expected to attract over 100,000 participants, including producers, exporters, suppliers, policymakers, and investors from across the globe. Discussions will cover essential aspects of the avocado industry, including quality and safety, production efficiency, phytosanitary measures, supply chain management, genetic resources, health, nutrition, and culinary applications.
The congress will feature exhibitors from various countries, showcasing a wide range of products and services that support the avocado value chain. Notable participants include Fresh Products (EPZ) Ltd, PJ Dave Fruits Ltd, Korongo 3 Exporters, Osho Chemicals, and Kickstart International from Kenya. The United Kingdom's Agripowa Consulting Ltd, Tanzania's Horticultural Association (TAHA), South Africa's Fruit Farm Group, and companies from Italy, China, Tunisia, and the Netherlands will also be present. These exhibitors represent diverse segments of the avocado industry, including production, export, agrochemicals, processing equipment, packaging, and logistics.
Delegates can register through the official Avocado Africa website, with options to participate in exhibitions, conferences, and field visits to processing plants and avocado farms. Exhibitors can secure a standard booth for $3,000, including essential amenities, until May 20, 2025.
The event holds significant strategic importance for Kenya, the leading avocado exporter in Africa. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Kenya is projected to export 135,000 tons of avocados in 2025, an increase of 6.3% from the previous year. Export revenues are expected to rise by 11%, reaching $175 million, driven by favorable weather conditions, expanded cultivation areas, and strong global demand, particularly in Europe and the Middle East.
Avocado Africa 2025 serves as a platform for stakeholders across the industry to connect, share insights, and explore new business opportunities. Its strategic location in Nairobi underscores Kenya's central role in the global avocado market and its commitment to advancing the sector through innovation and collaboration.
