Mexico leads mango shipments in strong season

According to the National Mango Board, during the week ending April 12, 2025, approximately 4.2 million boxes of mangoes were shipped. Mexico led the shipments with around 3.2 million boxes, increasing its season total to over 20.2 million boxes. Guatemala followed with 716,734 boxes, accumulating 1.8 million boxes for the season. Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic contributed 120,000 and 186,087 boxes, respectively, with seasonal totals reaching 448,675 and 347,385 boxes.

The mango season varies across countries. Mexico's season extends from mid-January to late September, projecting a volume of 98.1 million boxes. Guatemala and Nicaragua started their seasons in late February, ending in late May, with projected volumes of 4.3 million and 899,000 boxes, respectively. The Dominican Republic's season runs from mid-February to late August, targeting 2.3 million boxes.

In the U.S. market, the primary mango varieties are Tommy Atkins (72%) and Ataulfo/Honey (22%), with smaller volumes of Haden, Kent, Keitt, Mingolo, and Manilla also available. The overall season reflects a robust and varied mango supply, predominantly driven by Mexico, with consistent input from other producing nations. Expana reports the price of an IQF Mango Chunk (Kent Variety) at $2.20/kg, maintaining stability month-over-month, down 20% from the previous year.
