Topco recalls 1L orange juice over taste complaints

Topco, part of the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) group, has initiated a recall of specific batches of its 1L Unsweetened Orange Juice. This action follows reports from consumers regarding changes in the product's aroma and taste profile.

The company, in a statement on Tuesday, confirmed that the recall resulted from consumer feedback received the previous week. Internal tests corroborated these concerns, leading to the withdrawal of batches one, two, and three of the recently produced Topco1L Unsweetened Orange Juice.

The recall officially began on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. "Our tests have confirmed that, of the entire Topco 1L range, only the Unsweetened Orange Juice product has been affected," stated the company. Efforts are underway by the Quality Assurance and Production teams, alongside equipment manufacturers and specialists, to identify the root cause within the supply chain and workflow.

Consumers who purchased the affected batches are advised to return the product to the point of purchase for a refund. "Topco assures all consumers that we remain committed to the highest standards for quality and food safety," the company stated, emphasizing the importance of consumer trust and vigilance.

Topco also confirmed that all other juice products under its brand remain unaffected and are still available for purchase.
