The Kuehne+Nagel Group posted solid performance across all key financial metrics in the first quarter of 2025. Net turnover rose by 15% year-over-year to CHF 6.3 billion. EBIT climbed 7% to CHF 402 million, and earnings grew 9% to CHF 303 million.
CEO Stefan Paul commented, "Kuehne+Nagel has had a strong start in the new financial year. We increased our market share, gained new customers, and also improved profitability. Despite the challenging global economic environment, the company achieved double-digit growth in net turnover. We remain well prepared and positioned to implement our strategic objectives."
The company has decided not to update its full-year recurring EBIT guidance (CHF 1.5 billion to CHF 1.75 billion), citing persistent market uncertainty, including global tariff developments.
Sea logistics
Sea Logistics delivered a standout performance in Q1 2025, with net turnover increasing 30% year-over-year to CHF 2.5 billion. EBIT rose to CHF 210 million, and the conversion rate was 36%. Container volumes reached 1 million TEU, up 3% from the previous year.
The first-time consolidation of US-based IMC Logistics in January 2025 contributed positively to earnings from the outset.
Air logistics
Air Logistics reported a 13% year-on-year rise in net turnover to CHF 1.8 billion in Q1 2025. EBIT grew 23% to CHF 116 million, with a conversion rate of 26%. The unit handled 514,000 tonnes of freight, marking a 5% increase from the prior year.
The business unit gained market share in most industries, particularly in semiconductors, and launched new cool corridors for healthcare between Brussels–Chicago and Brussels–Singapore.
Road logistics
Road Logistics posted flat growth, with net turnover at CHF 871 million, up 1% year-on-year. EBIT declined sharply by 37% to CHF 19 million, impacted by weak demand in European markets.
The general cargo segment saw a downturn, and a recovery in market conditions is not expected in the near term.
Contract logistics
Contract Logistics continued its growth trajectory, with net turnover rising to CHF 1.2 billion (+3%) and EBIT increasing to CHF 57 million (+4%). New fulfillment centers were launched for Sanofi in Turkey and Rolls-Royce in Dubai, supporting continued expansion.
