Coliman Bananas - AGGALL Group celebrates its 47th anniversary

The month of April marks an important milestone for Coliman Bananas. This year, the company celebrates the 47th anniversary of the AGGALL Group – Coliman Bananas, a family business that has grown with passion, innovation and a strong sense of social responsibility. Founded by Jorge Aguilar Heredia, AGGALL Group began its journey in 1978 with the opening of its first commercial center in Hermosillo, Sonora. Today, the company is proudly led by his son, Jorge Angel Aguilar Gallegos, President and CEO of the Group.

3rd anniversary of Don Jorge Aguilar Heredia Foundation
This anniversary also marks another special occasion - the 3rd anniversary of the Don Jorge Aguilar Heredia Foundation, an initiative created to honour the legacy of its founder through social programmes that benefit communities, employees and future generations. "Our foundation is a reflection of our values. It allows us to give back and continue to create positive change," said Jorge Angel Aguilar Jr. The Coliman Bananas brand has its roots in the state of Colima, Mexico, where it was originally founded by Mr. Custodio Aguilar. With several decades of experience in the harvesting, marketing and distribution of conventional and organic bananas, Coliman Bananas continues to be a key player in the agricultural industry, both in Mexico and around the world.

Currently, AGGALL Group – Coliman Bananas is undergoing a transformation process, streamlining communications and adopting the 'Coliman Bananas' brand to speak directly to its end consumers.

Asia is key export market
Coliman's banana farms are located in the tropical regions of Colima and Chiapas, where fertile soils, and optimal climates ensure top quality production. The bunches are carefully cut by hand and transported to modern packing plants, where the fruit is selected according to strict standards to ensure freshness, correct calibration and ideal moisture levels. From there, they are marketed throughout much of Mexico, and the company continues to expand its presence in the rest of the country and in new international markets. Today, Coliman exports within North America and to Asia, supplying countries such as the United States, Canada, China, Japan, and South Korea. Despite logistical and cost challenges, the company remains committed to innovation and operational excellence to maintain its competitive edge.

Coliman Bananas operates with a vision rooted in social and environmental responsibility. Certified by Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance and Global G.A.P., the company prioritises the well-being of everyone in its ecosystem - from farm workers and farmers to suppliers and the communities it serves.

The Don Jorge Aguilar Heredia Foundation is an example of this commitment. Since its inception in 2022, the foundation has launched initiatives focused on education, health, community development and sustainability. "We believe that a company grows stronger when it uplifts others," added Aguilar Jr. As part of its ongoing transformation, Coliman Bananas is improving efficiency and harnessing the talent of its employees. "We are building a future of nutrition, health and well-being where everyone in our supply chain thrives," concluded Aguilar Jr.
