Post-harvest potato tech showcased at Scottish demo event

GRAY Farms in Portsoy, Scotland, hosted a demonstration of post-harvest potato technology organized by Agropack Solutions, a Scottish distributor for Wevano, Manter, Solidtec, Inovaa, Meconaf, Scotts UK, and Vegniek.

The event highlighted Agropack Solutions' Grading & Packing line, featuring technologies from Wevano, Manter, Solidtec, Inovaa, and Meconaf. A key feature was the U-Vision optical potato grader, which grades potatoes by size and quality. It uses multiple cameras to identify size, eliminate defects, and produce a graded product in one pass, minimizing product impact.

Agropack Solutions' box tippler was also demonstrated, capable of handling one and two-tonne boxes. It automatically switches between box sizes without adjustments, offering high capacity and consistent flow. This solution reduces labor costs, enhances efficiency, and minimizes crop damage during sorting and unloading.

Scotts UK's Evolution separators, designed for the root crop and vegetable markets, were part of the showcase.

The event facilitated the exchange of ideas among agricultural professionals and technology advocates, focusing on future innovation in sustainable growing. Hospitality was provided by Sarah's Burger Shack, offering a Highland-inspired lunch with locally-sourced ingredients.
