Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has announced an update to its India-Africa Service (IAS), aimed at improving trade flows between West and South Africa, the Gulf, and India. This update introduces a new eastbound call in Cape Town, replacing the previous stop in Coega, thereby offering exporters in the Cape region improved access to the global market.
This modification provides a direct connection between Cape Town and Jebel Ali/Abu Dhabi, focusing on the requisites of reefer cargo. For fruit exporters in the Cape area, this adjustment opens up further trading possibilities with the Gulf and IPAK region markets.
The revised service rotation started with the MSC Cancun, voyage number IW452R, making its call at Cape Town on January 11. The updated rotation now includes Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Sohar, Mundra, Nhava Sheva, Colombo, Lome, Cotonou, Abidjan, Tema, and Cape Town, before circling back to Jebel Ali.
