"According to the latest figures, Natura Iblea has all it takes to continue to stand out as one of the largest producers on the market in the current season as well," reports Roberto Giadone, president of the company, as outlines the plans for the year that has just begun.
"Despite a few variables, we have seen production costs rise for important products such as organic courgettes (+20% due to diseases and aphid attacks) and carrots (+10% due to water shortages, given the open field cultivation). On the other hand, green bean production is in full swing with stable costs and guaranteed availability of organic produce throughout the winter period," continues Giadone (in the photo).
This is a first for the company, which estimates a production of close to 200 tonnes of certified organic and Demeter green beans for the current season. The production of organic carrots, which will start on 10 February, is instead estimated at 6,000 tonnes. As for courgettes, the seasonal production is expected to be around 3,000 tonnes.
"On the European front, it is essential to emphasize what is happening in Spain which, for the first time, is seeing its courgette production affected by the spread of disease. As far as carrots are concerned, there is a shortage of Demeter produce for the second year running, which will certainly have consequences for the entire continental supply chain."
At Marca to propose a new distribution model for the Italian supply chain
This year, Natura Iblea is attending Marca mainly to talk about product distribution. According to the president, there is room for improvement in the model used by the Italian big retail trade: "Our experience abroad shows how advantageous it is to shorten the supply chain, turning directly to players like us, who can produce and distribute large quantities of widely-consumed fruit and vegetables such as carrots, courgettes, cherry tomatoes, etc., on their own. This model guarantees freshness, quality, and competitive prices, fully satisfying consumer expectations."
Thanks to its advanced logistics, Natura Iblea can deliver its fresh produce throughout Europe, with delivery times rarely exceeding 24 hours. This efficiency has already won over foreign strategic partners such as Edeka and other major brands, which have benefited significantly by working directly with the producer.
Focus on the Italian market
"At Marca 2025, we intend to dialogue with the main players in the Italian big retail sector in order to replicate the success achieved in foreign markets. We are ready to demonstrate that an organic supply chain without intermediaries not only improves efficiency but also responds to the demands of consumers who are increasingly attentive to quality, sustainability, and price."
The Natura Iblea stand at Marca 2025
Natura Iblea will be present (alongside its sister company Paniere Bio, which works in the Italian fruit and vegetable retail e-commerce sector) in Hall 29, at stand E8, where visitors will be able to discover the company's values and innovative strategies that have enabled the company to turn an efficient production and distribution model into reality, to the benefit of the private label sector and consumers. There will also be samplings and insights into the distribution model that aims to enhance the entire Italian organic sector."
