Potential for pineapple, citrus, mango and passion fruit cultivation

Uganda's plan to boost agricultural exports by 2028

Uganda aims to enhance its non-oil export portfolio to reach a target of $6b by the year 2028. The array of products earmarked for increased international trade includes a diverse range from the agricultural and industrial sectors such as bananas, alongside other fruits and vegetables, and the promotion of tourism. This ambition was shared by Hellen Adoa, the state minister of fisheries, at the 2nd Indonesia Africa Forum in Bali, Indonesia.

Representing the minister of Agriculture, Frank Tumwebaze, Adoa highlighted Uganda's rich potential in the agricultural sector, particularly in the production of citrus, pineapples, mangoes, and passion fruits. The forum, which convened under the theme "Bandung Spirit for Africa's Agenda 2063," sought to foster stronger, inclusive, and sustainable relationships between Indonesia and Africa through shared values and principles.
