"Many overseas production areas have begun to have demands, and the price of red onions has risen"

Recently, onions in Henan, Anhui, and Jiangsu have been harvested on a large scale. The planting area of red-purple onions was less than that of previous years, and the production has decreased to a certain extent. The price remains high and relatively stable.

Affected by the high price last year, the planting area of yellow onions has increased significantly, and the total output has also increased greatly. The situation of oversupply has always existed, and the price of yellow onions is running at a low level. Dela from Jinxiang Fresh Food Co., Ltd. was interviewed by FreshPlaza about the recent onion market.

"Onions are seasonal vegetables with many varieties in many production areas, which is a test of the experience of the middlemen. Generally speaking, the best yellow onions are from Gansu which can be harvested in August, and the best red onions are Erhong onions which will be harvested soon. At present, the price of Chinese yellow onions is the lowest in the world. However, the overall size is too large. Southeast Asia and Europe tend to choose 5cm-7cm, and 6cm-8cm onions, and the remaining 9cm+ can only be sold in the domestic market," Dela said.

"From the perspective of international production areas, the global production of yellow onions has decreased, and there is still a lot of international demand for onions this year. However, compared with Indian red onions, China has no price advantage. The price of small-sized red onions in India is much lower than that in China, but India lacks large-sized red onions. At this time, Chinese red onions have an advantage. "

"In terms of prices, the prices of onions harvested on a large scale in Shandong and Hebei have dropped recently. At the same time, due to the high garlic prices this year, some garlic storage companies have entered the onion industry, which has pushed up onion prices to a certain extent. At this stage, the price of yellow onions delivered by FOB at Qingdao Port is generally around US$310. Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines are starting to demand Chinese red onions, as well as the Middle East market. Some South American markets have a rigid demand, among which Nicaragua and Colombia have also started to request products. Red onion prices should move higher over time."

Jinxiang Fresh Food Co., Ltd. has its own seed base in Shandong, the main onion-producing area. "Thanks to our professional team's experience in selecting high-quality onions, we are confident that the onions can be shipped by sea for 50 days and still have good quality!"
