Horgos Port: Fruits and vegetables are popular Chinese exports to Central Asia

Fruits and vegetables are among the most popular goods exported from China to Central Asia through Horgos, a port city in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at the border between China and Kazakhstan.

The trade value between China and five Central Asian countries achieved the USD70 billion target last year. In the first quarter, the figure soared 22 percent from a year earlier, showing a strong development momentum.

Chinese fruits and vegetables exported to Central Asia are mostly apples and tomatoes, with peppers being the top vegetable exported to Russia, stated Xiang Yang, vice general manager at an international trade firm in Horgos.
