A month and a half after the start of the citrus campaign, the expectations have not been met, as the country has only shipped 12,425 tons of citrus, i.e. 38% less than by the same date of 2022, Fresh Fruit stressed.
"Exports started 73% lower than last year. Last week the country made its first high shipments in the campaign. That week, Peru exported a total of 5,600 tons; however, this was still 4% lower than in the same week of 2022.
"In this same week, Peruvian citrus fruits reached 18 destinations, three of which concentrated 67% of all shipments: the United States, with 33%, followed by Canada, with 18%, and the Netherlands, with 17%."
“Peru shipped 1,851 tons to the United States, i.e. 95% more than in the previous week but 44% less than in the same week of last year. Exports to the US were led by Procesadora Laran SAC, with a 24% share, and Consorcio de Productores de Fruta SA, with 16%.
"Exports to Canada amounted to 989 tons, almost twice the volume shipped in the previous week and almost triple the volume shipped in the same week of 2022. Exports to this destination were led by Procesadora Laran SAC, with a 65% share, and Agrícola Las Marías SAC, with 8%.
“Finally, the Dutch acquired 931 tons, 15% more than in the previous week, but 12% less than in the same period of the previous campaign. Exports to this market were led by Asesorías e Inversiones Muva S.A.C., with a 26% share, and Consorcio de Productores de Fruta SA, with 16%."
