Kedah has reported the production of over 150 tons of Harumanis mango, achieving a sales value of RM5 million. This output comes from 125 farmers managing 100ha of Harumanis orchards. The state, which initiated the commercialization of this premium mango breed under the Harumanis D'Aman brand in 2022, anticipates a significant increase in production to 600 tons next year to meet national demand. Harumanis was first introduced to Kedah in 1971.
The Kedah Mango Fiesta 2024 highlighted these developments, emphasizing the state's efforts to boost Harumanis mango cultivation. Kedah offers various supports to farmers, including access to 111 mango varieties, Harumanis saplings, fertilizers, and technical guidance, aiming to leverage the high market demand for this fruit. The selling price of Harumanis D'Aman ranges between RM35 and RM40 per kilogram, indicating its lucrative potential for local farmers.
