Comexstat data reveals that Brazil's melon exports for the 2023/24 season have surged ahead of the previous year's figures. During the initial half of the season, from August 2023 to January 2024, the country saw its export revenue climb to $142 million (FOB), a 14% increase from the same timeframe last season. Simultaneously, the volume of exports rose by 5%, reaching 167 thousand tons. This growth underscores Brazil's robust performance in the global melon market.
However, as the season nears its March end in regions like Rio Grande do Norte/CearĂ¡, export volumes are beginning to wane. This decrease is partly due to the onset of shipments from Central American nations such as Costa Rica, which are vying for a share of the European market. As these countries ramp up their exports, a gradual decline in Brazilian melon exports is anticipated due to heightened international competition.
