Fresh Produce Technologies becomes stronger and consolidates its business in Spain

Fresh Produce Technologies, the post-harvest division of JBT (formerly FMC), is growing stronger, consolidating its business in Spain and the Mediterranean countries.

JBT FoodTech (formerly FMC - Food Machinery Company), is an American company that was founded in the 1880's, when John Bean designed and built the first continuous sprayer to tackle a San José louse pest in California's plantations. From that moment onward, and up until now, the company's philosophy has always been to provide effective and innovative solutions to problems that our developing civilization is going to need to solve. This concern has motivated the company's diversification into several sectors, with special emphasis on the agro-food industry.

In 1929, Fresh Produce Technologies, the post-harvest division of John Bean Technologies, was founded. It became specialized in the provision of post-harvest solutions for both fresh and processed products. For decades, under the name of FMC, it has been supplying a wide range of solutions in the fields of technologies, chemical products, coatings and detergents for the treatment of fruits and vegetables.

The firm is now 90 years old. During all that time, the post-harvest division of JBT has been carrying out its activities in the United States, Latin America and Asia, where it has become a leading name, standing out thanks to the quality and good performance of its products. A few years ago, it decided to bet on expanding the post-harvest business, starting with South Africa, where it has become an absolute market leader. 3 years ago, it also launched operations in EMENA (Europe, the Middle East and North Africa). In Spain, Antoni Camarasa, a professional with 25 years of experience in the post-harvest sector, has just joined the firm in order to provide his knowledge the company and improve its services in that area.

According to the Commercial and Business Development Director for EMENA, Francisco Peris, "we are a growing business. We have increased our market share over the last three years, with a very active participation in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa."

JBT is present worldwide, with manufacturing centers and offices in more than 25 countries. It maintains a research and development, supply, manufacturing and sales network in more than 100 countries.

This year, JBT has once again participated in Fruit Logistica. The company was highly satisfied with the results obtained, and wished to acknowledge the good work done in these first few years. This helps us become stronger, especially when the product always meets or exceeds the expectations of the client.
