Quick commerce service provider Blinkit is offering complimentary coriander (dhaniya) with customer orders. Grab Holdings Limited announced unaudited financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024. Revenue grew 24% year-over-year, or 29% on a constant currency basis to $653mln. On-Demand GMV grew 18% year-over-year, or 21% on a constant currency basis to $4.2bln.

Marks & Spencer is teaming up with a recycling technology group to enable the retailer to trace what happens to its drinks bottles, cartons and other plastic packaging. The Polytag system prints an invisible tag on to containers, which can be picked up by electronic readers located at recycling centres.

UK: Adults in Cornwall eating more fruit and vegetables
The proportion of adults eating the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables in Cornwall has risen, new figures show - bucking the national trend. Office for Health Improvement and Disparities figures based on Sport England data show 41.9% of people aged over 16 in Cornwall met the 'five-a-day' fruit and vegetable recommendation in the year to November 2023.

UK: How well have supermarkets supported families during the cost of living crisis?
The Food Foundation reported: "Food prices are still 25% higher than they were two years ago and the cost of living crisis is impacting on dietary quality, especially for lower income families with just under half of households experiencing food insecurity reportedly buying less fruit and vegetables, dairy and oily fish. As a response to the crisis, The Food Foundation launched the Kids Food Guarantee - a set of actions which we think retailers (and manufacturers) should have in place as a minimum to support low income families to access and afford healthy staples. This briefing summarises our findings, looking at retailer progress and performance against the following areas: multibuys and price promotion deals, fruit and vegetables, staple carbohydrates, first infant formula, children's lunchboxes, yogurt and cereals, and the Healthy Start scheme".

US: Meijer opens 3 supercenters in a single day
Meijer is known for large stores - and this week the supercenter operator made a big splash, adding three more of its spacious signature locations to its fleet across the Midwest on a single day. The new stores, all of which debuted on Tuesday, are located in Hillsdale, Michigan, and the Ohio cities of North Canton and Alliance.
