German partially switch to Dutch red organic onions
German households buy 6% more onions in October compared to last year
In October German households bought 650 grams of onions on average. This is 6% more than last year and 2% more than average in the past 5 years. The share of organic onions in the consumption was 2.7%. In Germany the trade in organic red onion has switch partially to Dutch onions. The reasons for this are a (too) small supply in Germany and quality problems with the red organic onions.
