Trump presidency increases clearance procedure for Chinese pears

The time for custom clearances and inspections increases in the USA

"While the export of pears this season is taking place on a large scale, the new American Presidency has already had an impact on export procedures. This mainly manifests itself in a comparatively longer time for customs clearance and inspection. In the past, goods only needed 3-5 days to pass customs; nowadays, the time for clearance in Los Angeles is about 10 days, and in New York it can be up to a fortnight.

In the European market the standards for controls of corruption in agriculture have become somewhat stricter than last year, but this has never had a significant influence on us. This is because we have constantly been efficiently monitoring", says Mr Wang Zhongjiang from the Yafeng fruit company in Hebei province.

Expanding the European market
"This year, the season for exports to America is already coming to an end. From November on our exports will drop to a certain extent, but before that time, exports will be slightly increased in comparison to those during the same period last year. This helps us sustain our aggregate amount of exports to America at a stable level. I personally have faith in the next production period, because at that time the existing trade conflicts will have been resolved. When comparing the US market to the European market, the European one is still relatively stable. Therefore we plan to expand progressively in the European sales market. That is also the reason why we, for the first time, went to the exhibition in Berlin (Germany) this year."

"Our company is located in Botou district in Cangzhou (Hebei province), we mainly deal in several kinds of pears. We possess our own operation plant with an area of close to 134 hectares of plantations and we have another base, that can be used for cooperative operations, that has a size of 467 - 533 hectares."
