Honduras: banana production recovers

The authorities of the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH) reported that there had been a recovery in the volume and value of banana exports, after the decrease in exports of this product due to the protests in one of the banana companies and the rains that affected the sector at the end of 2017. Banana exports amounted to 230.7 million dollars, i.e. 1.2 percent more, thanks to a 14.9 percent increase in prices and the recovery in the volume exported in May.

Sales of this fruit accounted for 57.7 percent of the money achieved by the agricultural export sector, which also includes exports of melons, watermelons, and vegetables, among other items. The country's agricultural exports amounted to 399.5 million dollars, i.e. 9 million dollars higher than in the same period of the previous year.
