Plus forecast for July

China: Analysis of local fruit prices in Chongqing in June

In the first half of July, according to the forecast of the Municipal Meteorological Bureau, Chongqing will have continuous rainy weather again. It will cause difficulties for the harvesting of seasonal fruits such as local grapes, early plums and watermelons. It will also impede the improvement of the quality of semi-matured plums. In middle and late July, extremely hot days are expected and the continuous high temperature will promote the consumption of seasonal fruits such as grapes, plums and watermelons. It is expected that the seasonal fruit supply will increase while local produce prices may fall compared with the same period last year.

According to the monitoring report on tangerine production, Chongqing Kaizhou, Yunyang, Wanzhou, Fengjie and other places suffered from frosts this winter; the spring flowering of the tangerine orchard in Pingba area was affected, and the tangerine sales situation in the February and March saw a market slump. The sales progress was delayed for more than one month, affecting the tangerine flowering. From the end of April to the beginning of May, the first fruit drop of tangerine encountered high temperatures. At the end of May, the secondary fruit drop was affected by low temperature and rainy weather. This has led to a large amount of tangerines dropping and in the meantime, the fruit bearing rate and the varieties of citrus fruit from some districts and counties were not as good as last year.
