AK Party Senator, Halil Etyemez: “We as a government offer support to growers in all areas of production. Our support does not only cover the distribution of seeds and seedlings to growers but also special incentive programs for exports and funding and grants for setting up greenhouses, know-how in soil analysis, irrigation and fertilization. We also offer partial cover of the insurance costs for the growers.
Turkey grew 39 million tons of fresh fruits and vegetables in 2002 and now this number has risen to 49.2 million tons, which puts Turkey in the top 5 in global fresh produce production. Our export revenue was only 534 million USD in 2002 and now we have exported 3.9 million tons of fresh fruits and vegetables which generated an income of 2.2 billion USD for our country. 1.7 million tons of citrus plants, 1 million tons of other fresh fruits and 1.3 million tons of vegetables were exported in total in 2017.”
