21 farms of the Chiquita Panama LLC banana company, located in the district of Changuinola, in the province of Bocas del Toro, have been paralyzed since June 7 because of a labor dispute with the Trade Union of Workers of the Banana Industry, Farming, and Related Companies (SITRAIBANA).
Faced with this situation, the Ministry of labor and workforce development (MITRADEL) is making efforts to mediate between the parties, holding frequent conciliation meetings with SITRAIBANA and the company to promote and maintain a dialogue to reach an agreement that puts an end to the labour dispute.
