Planting an orchard could be easier

Planting orchards can be improved by radical automation. By cleverly combining new techniques, a machines was created that can mill the groove, drill the holes or set the post and plant the tree in one go. The machine is driven by a GPS system installed in the tractor. “Planting an orchard with the Damcon PL-40 planting machine results in major labour saving,” says Leendert Scheurwater of Damcon.

“The time when planting a complete orchard was complex and time-consuming is over. The Damcon PL-40 creates a groove of 40 centimetres wide and has a drilling capacity of 60 concrete posts plus 540 fruit trees per hour, and a pressing capacity of 400-500 posts plus trees per hour,” Leen specifies.
