Packaging company launches new meal kit bags in Toronto

Chantler Packages Inc. has launched PrimePro® meal-kit bags this April in Toronto. They were created to serve the growing prepared meal-kit industry, as it absorbs ethylene, keeping produce fresh.

These delivery services create unique meals then send the pre-measured and pre-cut ingredients, along with recipes, directly to the customer’s home. According to Chantler, PrimePro film works specifically well for this industry as the same film structure can be used to handle a variety of commodities, which comes useful as these recipes change constantly. “Companies have freedom to offer different types of ingredients that they want to include in their recipes without concern of mixing produce causing spoilage, like tomato and basil for example,” says Grant Ferguson, Head of Export Sales at Chantler Packages. “PrimePro also helps them be creative and potentially offer specialty, organic or exotic fruits and vegetables, adding further appeal to this fun, DIY, concept.”

Chantler recently partnered with a Canadian meal-kit company who wanted to reduce food waste and packaging waste. For this, Chantler provided the smallest PrimePro®, format ever made in 8 x 8” and 4 x 12” for individual packing, while also being recyclable. “Our client wanted to deliver top quality ingredients like arugula, spinach and kale,” said Mohsin Masud, Head of Sales - Canada, at Chantler Packages. “PrimePro® meal-kit bags now allow them to arrive to their customers in great condition.”

Today, the company says PrimePro® shelf life extension technology continues to be used by produce growers and distributors around the world, as a solution for ethylene control without the need of sealing or gassing. It comes in a variety of formats, including pallet covers, sheets, carton liners, and irradiation bags.
