Trucks transporting Spanish fruit and vegetables to destinations throughout Europe have been affected by the traffic hold-ups in the south of France because of the violent storm.
The Spanish fruit and vegetables export is “stuck” in the south of France as reported by the transport association of Murcia FROET. Last Friday, “thousands of trucks” from Andalucía, Murcia and the Valencia Region with perishable produce were “retained” in France due to heavy storm.
Citrus fruit, broccoli, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, zucchini, peppers and strawberries won’t reach their European destinations at the scheduled dates and times and “if the situation goes on for longer” trade will be affected because many of the target markets “are not prepared for a shortage of three or four days”.
The transit through Cataluña continues slowly as, some days ago, it was also paralysed by similar conditions.
