Scandinavian market important for Plantis Group

"Our main market has always been Scandinavia and Sweden in particular. We quadrupled our turnover in 2017 thanks to new clients in Northern Europe, Baltic countries and Eastern Europe," explains Claudio D'Alba from Plantis Group, a company founded in 2016 but with almost 15 years of experience in the sector. The Plantis sales department binds various companies in the Taranto area and all over Italy.



"While Scandinavia demands high-quality produce, price is more important in the Baltic area (20-30% lower than in Scandinavia), though quality must be good there as well."

Plantis Group focuses mainly on fennel (30-40 pallets a week), parsley, white, purple, green and yellow cauliflowers and turnips. Spring onions, fennel and parsley are available at the moment and "in the summer, we mainly focus on grapes - seeded or seedless, organic or traditional and available in various types of packaging."



The company also manages the logistics and has recently obtained the organic certification. "Our organic production is rather limited at the moment, we are talking about 8-10%, but the trend is growing, in Scandinavia in particular. The Baltic area is surprisingly interested too, as we're selling organic oranges, lemons and kiwis to a few Lithuanian retailers."



New objectives
"As for 2018, we are looking to increase the volumes of fennel, parsley and grapes and we will also try to tackle new markets such as France and Benelux." 

Plantis Group is also looking for operators willing to collaborate in the organic and traditional seeded and seeded grape segment as well as for fennel and parsley.
