Own warehouse of 2,000 m2
Euro Gijbels invests in Spanish production and packing station
Euro Gijbels Spain has been active in Spain for years, but the company has recently opened a branch there as well. “We recently purchased a warehouse of 2,000 square metres. We did this because demand from our customers is increasing considerably, and it became too expensive, logistically. It became time for an actual location. That’s why we chose to take over a brand new warehouse. It’s a great step in our continued professionalisation,” says John Gijbels.
New citrus line
“The investment in a completely new citrus line was a good decision. Our clementines are now sized and cleaned even better. They come from the citrus line beautifully due to the use of the latest technologies available on the market. Systematically supplying the right sizes is appreciated by our buyers. We’re now working on expanding our processing lines for other products. We want to utilise and use the local products as optimally as possible,” John continues.
Purchasing additional hectares
“The leafy vegetable season has started slowly throughout the entire region, so that it was more difficult in December to meet the predetermined quota. As a result, our predetermined planning has been very different in practice. To meet increasing demand, investing in additional hectares is now required. Thanks to the growth we had this year, we were able to buy additional land,” John says. “We’re currently also looking into how to expand on a strong and varied organic production in Spain, in order to meet increasing demand for organic in Belgium.”
