China: Rain and snow doubles green vegetable prices

On 4 January, as it was snowing, there were very few people on the vegetable market. The vegetable prices increased dramatically, especially for green vegetables. From 0,80 yuan per 500 gram, the price has now risen to 2 yuan. Simultaneously, the prices for leafy vegetables, such as celery and spinach, have also increased somewhat. This is mainly because of the rainy and snowy weather. As it affects different segments of the supply chain, such as transportation and harvest, the labor costs for transportation have risen.
