Tesco is supporting the first Public Health England Change4Life campaign to stimulate healthier snacking for children. The snacks – which include Pink Lady Apple Snack Packs, Goodness Strawberry Cereal bars and Tesco Pineapple Pieces in Juice 120g – will be available at everyday low prices. Matt Davies CEO for UK and ROI said: “We know that our customers want us to help them eat more healthily and it can be particularly difficult to encourage children to eat healthy snacks. By promoting a wide range of snacks, aligned with Public Health England’s campaign, we hope to make it easier for families to make a healthier start to the year. This is part of a wider programme to help our colleagues and customers stay healthy.”

UK: Hong Kong retail business of Marks & Spencer sold to Al-Futtaim

UK retailer Marks & Spencer has verified the sale and franchise of its retail business in Hong Kong and Macau to Al-Futtaim. Al-Futtaim has now become the new sole franchisee for M&S in these markets, taking over 27 stores which were owned by the UK-based retail group.

Holland: +5% to €7.01bln in 2017 results for Jumbo
The 2017 results of Jumbo has been made public. According to igd, the turnover increased by 5% to €7.01bln. By the end of 2017, Jumbo operated 585 stores and it plans to expand its store count to 600 by the end of 2018.

UK: 100 new Co-op food stores planned to open in 2018
Retailer Co-op has made public that it is planning to open 100 new food stores during 2018. According to igd, the Director of Portfolio and Development, Co-op Stuart Hookins commented: "The Co-op's extensive acquisitions and refit programme is a fundamental part of our food strategy ... our expansion plans for 2018 will mean that the Co-op is on track to have opened at least 100 new stores in each of three consecutive years. We are always looking for new locations to get us closer to where our members and customers live and work, and to meet their shopping needs conveniently."

US: ATM network expanded by Pick ‘n Save
Pick ’n Save, a banner of Kroger subsidiary Roundy’s, will provide a network of 25 ATM locations via a new partnership with WaterStone Bank and nationwide ATM network company FCTI Inc. Pick ’n Save operates more than 100 grocery stores across the state of Wisconsin.

US: 5 Vermont stores will be bought by AG of New England
Associated Grocers of New England revealed it has agreed to buy 5 independent supermarkets in Vermont. Mike Violette, AGNE president and CEO said: “The format of the stores is unique. They do a lot with organic and specialty products, and have a lot of local products. We see it as a way to gain access to these local products.”
