China: Port of Shenzhen - fruit imports increase dramatically

According to the Shenzhen Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the fruit imported through the port of Shenzhen in the third quarter of this year was 29,000 tons, with a total value of 63.65 million dollars. This is an increase of respectively 70.6% and 52.7%. The most imported fruits were Thai durians and longans along with Australian citrus and South African oranges. The import of citrus fruit has grown eightfold from last year. 19 new fruit varieties were brought in, adding to the Chinese 'fruit basket'.
