The horticultural company Gruventa will present its new Kingdom pomegranate at Pasarela Innova, in the framework of Fruit Attraction 2017, after its agreement with the company Califresh, which will be marketing the fruit exclusively. According to Fermín Sánchez, manager of this Murcian firm, Kingdom is joining a pomegranate program with a harvest calendar of 6 months. The objective is mostly to meet the demand of European countries and the Middle East, with a range of tastes going from sweet to sour.
The representative of the firm also pointed out that "it has a large size, with an average weight of between 500 and 600 grams, as well as a fantastic outer colour, between dark red and garnet. The tree has medium-high growth vigour and is quick to become productive."
As far as productivity is concerned, Fermín Sánchez states that "it is high, with more than 35,000 kg/ha in full production under normal conditions. The key aspects that make the Kingdom stand out from other existing varieties are its lowest acidity and high resistance to sun stroke, fungal problems and fruit cracking, as well as the fact that it usually reaches premium sizes and has an attractive external and internal appearance."
