Prices are good and quality is better than expected. Fennel has finally become available in northern Italy to complement productions from other areas such as Piana del Fucino.

"We are very pleased with the quality of the produce. We carried out transplants in July, when it was really dry. Despite the constant irrigation, we feared the high temperatures would affect growth, but luckily they didn't," explains Emile Fellini from Fellini Patrizio.
Cleaning phase
The company works with a very short chain, which Emile jokingly defines as a "two-km chain", as this is the distance between Azienda 67 where fennel is grown and the processing/packaging plant. "The produce goes from fields to retail shelves in 12-24 hours, also thanks to our fleet of refrigerated trucks."

On 26th September 2017, when we visited the company, operators had just finished harvesting. Fennel is then transported to the plant, washed with ozonized water, cleaned, sorted and packaged.

"We provide all kinds of packaging solutions according to the client's needs. Filmed trays are part of the "I Freschissimi" range, but there are multiple options."
The Freschissimi range
Fellini Patrizio sells fennel throughout the year. It supplies domestic retailers, all distributors that makes a request and foreign clients in Denmark, France and Germany.
