TOC Americas

Peru to Host Global Maritime and Port Industry

When we talk about TOC Americas we know that is where the major players in the shipping industry at the regional level meet. From shipping companies and port operators to cargo owners and logistic operators, the most important companies in the supply chain come together for three days to discuss the industry's present and future.

With less than 30 days before Peru's debut as the host of the tenth version of TOC Americas, Peru's Minister of Transport and Communications, Bruno Giuffra and the National Port Authority's president, Edgar Patiño, are already confirmed for the opening speech.

The conferences will have three themes: TOC CSC: Contained Logistics Chain, TECH TOC: Technologies and Port Operations and TOC BULK, which, together with an exhibition with more than 70 sponsors and stands, complement an extensive networking program that includes a port tour, and three receptions of the highest level to strengthen ties and contacts.

Track 1: TOC CSC - Container Supply Chain
Professionals from the containerized logistics chain will be able to enjoy extensive discussion and analysis sessions on the risks, opportunities and challenges of the industry in the present and near future. There will also be an opportunity to discuss cargo, transport, ports and infrastructure investment, as is already traditional in this conference. Among the track Container Supply Chain presenters will be representatives of Maersk Line, MSC, Hapag Lloyd, Hamburg Süd, DP World, APM Terminals, CONUFDI, among others. In addition, this central module will have a session specially dedicated to the Logistics of the Cold Chain and Refrigerated Cargo, denominated Cold Chain.

Track 2: TECH TOC
The container terminal specialists staff will have a conference to discuss the most relevant issues in their industry. Topics such as 'automation, digitization and innovation', equipment maintenance, simulation and emulation, next generation technologies and clean technologies will be the track's discussions that focus on how to incorporate technological solutions to the containerized logistics chain.

Track 3: TOC BULK
One of the novelties this year is the special conference for bulk and technology executives. "The solid bulk shipping market has bottomed out and its recovery is under way," say experts in the field. The big question is how long it will take to reach the levels seen half a decade ago, and if there is anything that can be done to accelerate this process.

TOC Bulk seeks to involve attendees in a proactive-solutions discussion focused on issues such as solid bulk shipping prospects; new commodities and adaptation to the changing global market; professional operation of bulk cargo with mobil port cranes and the export and import of bulk cargo in containers, together with the analysis of two practical cases onPort of Callao's Multipurpose North Terminal, and the Matarani Port Terminal, the latter one operated by TISUR.

Mobile technology and networking
While the conference's focus will revolve around the incorporation of disruptive technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, digital technologies and nanotechnology formats, cloud computing and big data in the containerized logistics chain; during the presentations parallel to these three simultaneous discussion sessions, the participants of version 17 of the event will be able to interact with the rapporteurs and presenters through a mobile application that will allow them to ask questions in real time, in order to guide the path that the main discussions will take.

Along with all these innovations, the conference will continue with its traditional networking events and a port tour to Puerto del Callao, the day before the start of the conference, to the APM Terminals (Muelle Norte) and DP World (Muelle Sur) facilities. In addition, there will be a new version of the TECH TOC exhibition and, for the first time, Logistics and Bulk Technology form a comprehensive and complete conference program.
