Nanotechnology helps save up to 50% of water

Saving water consumption and increasing production are two basic objectives in the agricultural sector. Nanotechnology makes these possible, while also bringing other benefits. This technology acts physically on the water, emitting a quantum of energy that stimulates the hydrogen bonds. As a result, they become more active, modifying the physical properties of water molecules, making them "smaller" and improving their assimilation by the plant.

Nanolabs, a company specialised in nanotechnology, wanted to highlight the main advantages that the application of this technology is bringing to the agricultural sector:

1. Reduction of up to 50% in water consumption. The use of the technology and the setting up of Nanolabs ASAR systems have resulted in savings of between 20% and 50%, depending mainly on the type of soil on which the farm is located.

2. Increase in production. The company has managed to increase its production in different plantations by up to 40% thanks to the installation of nanotechnology-based Nanolabs patent ASAR systems in the irrigation system.

3. Reduction in the use of pesticides and fertilizers in equal proportion to the reduction of water consumption in the cases mentioned above.

4. Improvement in the quality of the production through the improvement of its organoleptic properties. Moreover, it has also been shown that it leads to an up to 40% growth of the biomass produced.

5. Elimination of obstructions of the irrigation system, both calcareous and clayey. It has been observed how substantially the amount of sludge collected when cleaning is reduced, with the economic saving that this entails.

6. It improves both the availability of nutrients and the moisture of the soil. Nanotechnology allows for a better transport of nutrients for the crops and a more efficient use of those present in the substrate.

7. Reduction in electricity costs linked to pumping needs. The application of nanotechnology with Nanolabs' patented system pursues this objective, and its success has been demonstrated in projects carried out outside the laboratory.

For Javier Llanes, CEO of Nanolabs, "the benefits that the application of nanotechnology has brought to the agricultural sector are a reality, as our clients have been able to verify. Thanks to our solutions, they have managed to reduce their consumption of water, as well as to increase the volume and quality of the production."
