Following the significant growth of blueberry exports in the country, increasing by 148.2% compared to 2015, the Ancash region made part of this achievement in 2017, with the export of 57 tons of this product to the Asian market, registered until September of this year.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, through the National Health Service - Senasa, verified compliance with all the requirements demanded by the Asian market, certifying Ancash's shipments.
Cold treatment is one of the main phytosanitary requirements demanded by the Chinese market. This measure, in the case of air shipments, is carried out for 15 days at a temperature of 1.11 °; while in the case of maritime shipments, this is carried out in transit, according to the procedure, for 22 days at a maximum temperature of 2° centigrade.
It should be noted that, despite the climatic phenomenon present in all provinces of the Ancash region, these crops located in Caraz and Huarmey were not significantly affected, so that their production campaign will be maintained until the end of December 2017.
The main companies established in the region are Intipa Foods, Exportadora Frutícola del Sur SA and Agricola La Venta, with sales registered to China, Spain, France, England, Holland, United States, Germany, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
The economic sustainability of this crop has allowed the agroexportation of blueberries to increase considerably in the region, generating great expectations for the 2017 season, more so, since Senasa has been coordinating the entry of this product to Brazil and India.
