Scott Farms wins award for “Innovation in Sweet Potatoes” campaign

Scott Farms International’s “Innovation in Sweet Potatoes” promotional campaign gained recognition with the 29th Annual Produce Business Marketing Excellence Award. The award honors companies in the produce industry that produce exemplary marketing programs with great connecting power to their customers.

“We are extremely excited to be mentioned alongside some great companies in the industry”, Scott Farms’ Vice President, Sweet Potato Operations Dewey Scott said. “We simply set out to tell our story. The story of why and how we do what we do. And, people took notice.” The “Innovations in Sweet Potatoes” campaign launched in fall of 2016 generated more than 5 million broadcast television views and increased Scott Farms web traffic by more than 125 percent.

“We tried to show the inside story of where your food comes from and how it gets from the farm to you”, Jeff Thomas, Director of Marketing said. “Going into the campaign, not really thinking in terms of marketability, we wanted to tell the truth of our process. It is a process that is transparent from beginning to end and we felt that would resonate with our customers and entice them to want to learn more about Scott Farms as a whole.”

Featured in pieces airing on RFD-TV’s “American Farmer” series and on Discovery Channel’s “Innovations”, Scott Farms tapped into an audience that was interested in both farming and technology. “Farming today is much more technical than before,” Scott explains. “We believe that in our process we are on top of technology. It allows us to have more controls in the process from beginning to end resulting in a safer, higher quality, and more consistent end-product. It makes sense that we continue to innovate to better serve our customers.”
