The expected crop quantity is as low as one third of the average harvest of the years 2011 to 2016 (30,600 tons). The yield is estimated to be about 6.8 tons. The past five years, it was 21.9 tons on average. This means that there are only 2.3 kg of apples from domestic production available for every inhabitant. For comparison: The average consumption of apples of one person was 19 kg in 2015/2016. Apples are grown on 1,390 hectares and that makes them the most popular fruit variety in the country.

According to the observations of the reporter, other fruit varieties also have significantly lower harvests. Sweet cherries are in second place of the harvest statistics with 653 hectares. The estimated yield is 2.7 tons per hectare which is 56 percent lower than its usual 6.1 tons. The estimated harvest is at 1,700 tons.

Sour cherries (562 hectares) yielded an amount of 5.9 tons per hectare, which fails to meet the yearly average of 2011-2016 (8.5 tons/hectare) with 30 percent. Compared to last year, an estimated harvest reduction of 26 percent was recorded. The total harvest amounts to 3,300 tons. The pear-growing farms (163 hectares) can deliver 8.8 tons per hectare and will, by the looks of it, only reach half of its usual average. The estimated harvest is at 1,400 tons.
