Italy: Frutta del Sole has thirty years of experience in fruit cultivation

"2017 was not very good for apricots, while it was better for peaches and nectarines and stable for table grapes," explains Giuseppe Leone, legal representative of Frutta del Sole.

"The peach and nectarine campaign is still in full swing and prices are encouraging as we manage to sell the larger grades at €1.50."

"Italia grapes are currently being harvested and sell at €1.15-1.20/kg for the average quality, while premium fruit sells at €2/kg. Prices are rather fluctuating as a series of special offers is being carried out be retailers."

"Unfortunately, apricots were affected by overproduction due to the fact that, over the past few years, many growers uprooted peach varieties and replaced them with apricots. Only premium fruits manage to reach €1.20/kg, while average fruits only reach 80 eurocents/kg."

But let's learn more about this company. Its partners have over thirty years of experience and focus on the production and commercialisation of fruit.

"The base of our company is made up of young entrepreneurs who inherited their knowledge from their parents, who started growing table grapes, peaches, nectarines and apricots in the 1970s."

Frutta del Sole is committed to orchard innovation and to choosing the cultivars that are most popular with consumers and retailers for what concerns both quality and storage."

"A dynamic management that respects regulations and the environment makes this company flexible and ready to cooperate with retailers and other partners. The business also performs HACCP self-checks and holds the GlobalGAP certification."

A specific technical assistance, monitoring and analysis system guarantees that the products have high health and quality standards.

A modern 2,000 sq m warehouse includes large controlled-temperature systems (1,000 sq m). There are two automated processing lines (with 60 work stations in total) - one for grapes and one for fruit. Harvesting is carried out in compliance with standards and traceability is guaranteed thanks to batch numbers.

"The warehouse manager performs organoleptic and/or lab checks and storage is arranged per fruit groups so as not to damage final quality. The company processes and packages produce destined to commercialisation with the aim of creating a chain with unique quality. We are dynamic and always looking to meet market and client needs."
