It's still sand at the moment, but the move on March 3 2018 is already planned. The Staay-Van Rijn team is looking forward to the developments in the Heylen Group who are building their new construction at Fresh Park Venlo. There has been a lack of space in Staay-Van Rijn's current building since the fusion between Staay Food Group and Van Rijn Trading in 2013.

"When we looked at both turnovers we knew during the merger that the existing building was going to be on the tight side. But first we wanted to know whether we could realise the turnover with the new team," says Ron de Greeff of Staay-Van Rijn. Now that they have been able to do this for a number of years, they really need a new location. "Our logistics are top notch. Customers from throughout Europe can order from use 7 days a week until half past one in the afternoon, and have it on their doorstep the same night."

Cash and carry
The new development will be near Gate 1 at Fresh Park Venlo at the A73 and A76. The building will have a surface of 12,000 m2, almost double the current m2 at the current location (6500). The construction is being carried out as sustainably as possible and the energy in the new building is (re)used as optimally as can be done - the roof is ready for solar power. The new building is divided into 1,500 m2 of office space, 4,200 m2 cooled expedition and 2,800 m2 of cooling cells for storage. The cash and carry trade location will also grow considerably to 3,000 m2. "It will be a separate location where customers can calmly look at their wares," says Ron.

Chilled storage
The chilled storage space is being strongly expanded. At the moment a lot of trade still has to be moved from the Staay-Hispa storage in Papendrecht. Soon there will be space to keep their own stock. "We invest in efficiency and that will benefit all locations," says Rien Panneman, general director of Staay Food Group.

Cooling technique
Storage and cooling are critical company processes in which Staay Food Group sets high demands. Huijbregts Koeltechniek has once again been given the task of supplying the cooling installations. Use is made of CO2 as a cooling agent, which is less taxing for the environment. This innovation has the trust of Staay Food Group, Trans critical CO2 installations of Huijbregts Koeltechniek are already used by Staay-Hisp and Fresh Care Convenience in Dronten.

DNA
Staay Food Group is good at fruit and vegetables, Groep Heylen is good at logistical real estate. "We both pay a healthy attention to quality, sustainability and detail. Because we both want to be innovative front runners, our DNA is compatible," says Wim Heylen.
Fresh Park Venlo is also happy with this new development at its company location, even though they need to find a new tenant for their current building. Governments are important in stimulating the economy and various governments are working together closely in the Venlo region. "We keep it as simple as possible for companies to do business here," emphasises alderman Bob Vostermans of the Horst aan de Maas Municipality.
