Peru: The value of banana exports decreased by 5.46%

According to the Agrodata Peru website, in the first half of the year, Peruvian banana exports totaled US $76,558,272, i.e. 5.46% less than the to US $80,723,092 achieved in the same period of 2016.

According to the website, in the first six months of 2017 Peru shipped 107,217,706 kilos of banana, 3.76% less than in the 103,189,314 kilos it shipped during January-June of the previous year.

Banana shipments during the first half of this year were as follows: 

January US $ 13,914,958 (18,430,475 kilos) 
February US $ 12,172,516 (16,146,114 kilos)
March US $ 14,119,739 (18,985,906 kilos)
April US $ 11,767,905 (15,951,147 kilos)
May US $ 12,734,933 (17,351,351 kilos)
June US $ 11,847,221 (16,324,321 kilos)

Destinations
According to the same source, the main destination markets for the Peruvian bananas or plantains were the Netherlands with US $27,768,162 (accounting for 36.27% of the total) and the United States with US $22,185,469 (28.98% of the total). 

They were followed by Germany with US $10,133,499, Belgium with US $4,695,644, Finland with US $3,736,320, the Republic of Korea with US $3,636,808, and other destinations with smaller amounts that together amount to US $4,380,370.

The main banana exporting companies in Peru are: Cooperativa Agraria Appbosa, with shipments for US $7,414,000, Querecotillo Small Organic Producers Association with US$6,359,000, Pronatur with US $5,586,000, Agronegocios Los Angeles with US $5,049,000 and the Association of Organic Banana Producers Valle El Chira with US $4,573,000, among others.
