Playing into other purchasing behaviour
Colette Cloosterman-van Eerd, member of the board of directors and responsible for formula and innovation as the CCO: "The traditional divide between supermarkets and catering is disappearing, especially in inner cities. Various customers come together there: those working, living, shopping and studying. This leads to different purchasing behaviour, with more emphasis on ease, speed, health and price. By bundling our knowledge and experience, Jumbo and La Place can strengthen each other and be more and more present in the time and place that the customer needs us. We are incredibly proud of our new store."
Playing into eating needs
Colette Cloosterman-van Eerd emphasises that the family company wants to be where the customer is. "We want to offer a suitable solution for every eating need. In our regular stores and through our online shop the customer can do their weekly shopping and have it delivered to their home or they can collect it. For more inspiration, a real food experience and healthy and fresh meals to eat on the spot, take home or make at home, Foodmarket is the ideal place. Everyone is welcome at one of our La Pace restaurants to extensively enjoy delicious and fresh traditional meals. With the opening of the Foodmarket City by Jumbo we are adding a new and unique concept. With the assortment in this store we can play into various busy locations in the inner city. This is how we are making tasty and healthy food available to everyone in an easy manner."
New products
Jumbo is taking advantage of Foodmarket City by Jumbo to introduce a new product line. This includes sandwiches and wraps, cold pressed juices, lunch salads, various homemade breads and bakery products. Jumbo is also bringing out various one person meals and meal salads. Including the freshly prepared meals from the kitchen, over five hundred new products are being added to the Jumbo assortment. A portion of this will also be available later at around twenty existing Jumbo stores.
Foodmarkt City app for smartphones
Jumbo is launching the Foodmarkt City app for smartphones for its new location. With this app customers can order a meal and have it delivered to a location of choice. After entering a few preferences users will also receive tailored offers. The delivery service through the app can only be used for Foodmarkt City by Jumbo in Groningen so far. Jumbo is testing the possibility of using the app for stores to be opened in the future and existing Foodmarkets. The app can be found in the Apple and Android app stores.
