Companies are constantly looking for improvements for their products, as well as for ways to facilitate the logistics and offer a good service, which is why Patatas Catalán introduced its 5 and 10 kg family packaging formats. It is a sturdy cardboard box approved for food use, with a system to open and close it as a dispenser. "Once you've got the potatoes you need, you can close it and prevent the product from deteriorating," explained Cosme Catalán, manager of this Madrid-based firm.
After the design of this packaging format, "we are seeing a greater loyalty from our current customers," states Catalán. They have not noticed a drastic increase in the number of customers, "but we do see that they repeat their orders and that word of mouth is working," adds Catalán. "We offer the same quality, product and price all year round and that is appreciated," comments the representative of Patatas Catalán.
Compared to the price of the products marketed through large distributors, this packaging entails an increase of 20 to 25% of the final price; however, "we must keep in mind that this increase includes the packaging, as well as the transportation and the convenience of receiving it at home within 24-48 hours," adds Catalán.
