Guangxi is a major production area of the watermelon variety of Black Beauty, but due to the frequent rainfall this spring, the initial fruit setting rate of watermelons here was not ideal. With the second and third batch of fruit entering the market, however, the situation has been slowly improving.
Last year, because farms from different areas started sowing seeds around the same time, watermelons from these places all hit the market at the same time, resulting in poor prices. Therefore, local growers of watermelons moved their sowing forward 10 days this year.
