China: Yichang late-ripe oranges get sales boost

After the Chinese New Year, Yichang oranges continue to be sold at a high price. The average prices for all orange varieties are at an all-time high. Of all this year's late ripe oranges, the sales performance of the late navel oranges are the most eye-catching. The main reasons are that they ripen later, they are especially fragrant and of superb quality. The production of the late navel oranges is only a limited proportion of all navel oranges (less than 20%). This causes a fierce demand on the market. The fact that the oranges sell well at such a high price also means that the earnings of the orange farmers this year have increased on average.
