Shanghai import market
China: Market eyes Spanish stone fruit and domestic snow peach
This week's import market is in a transitional period from Southern to Northern hemisphere supply. Southern hemisphere oranges are gradually coming to an end, but blueberries, cherries and grapes are being readied for sale. Some small products, like Spanish stone fruits, are coming to China in greater quantities. At the same time, a few Chinese late-ripe varieties, such as Lijiang snow peaches, are appearing on the import market, challenging the middle and high end markets.
The Shanghai import market is welcoming Spanish stone fruits this week. Nectarines and flat peaches have a short peak and prices are stable but sales have slowed down. The flat peaches and nectarines come in small cases of 3.2 kg, with a selling price of 180 RMB to 200 RMB. The price in first-tier cities is about 60 RMB per kg. Chinese honey peaches from Lijiang in Yunnan are looking really beautiful and are sold in packs of 9 fruits at 120 RMB - a lot cheaper than their rivals. .

American cherries are also increasing in volume and sales are rising in Canton, one of the two main import markets along with Shanghai. This is because Shanghai produces large volumes of grapes, unlike Canton where grape supply is limited, and this pushes down the sales of imported cherries.
Delica brought a lot of apples this week with separate packaging. These are very eye-catching on the wholesale market.
