Netherlands: “A glass of wheatgrass juice a day…”

If it were up to entrepreneur Suzanne Poot, we’d all be drinking a glass of wheatgrass juice in the morning. The established nutrition consultant also thinks that in years to come, we’ll eat more raw vegetables. Visiting the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida last year, she experienced first-hand how one can benefit from a natural way of eating. "I have learned that we underestimate the power of nutrition. Personally, I felt tired for years and suffered from various ailments, which my doctor could not alleviate,” she says. “Interestingly, I was never asked about my diet. After visiting Florida I felt so much better.”

In the US, juices like the one made from wheatgrass have been popular for years. "People are becoming increasingly aware of health food and natural products. Wheatgrass is one of the healthiest juices in existence. The green juice contains a lot of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, chlorophyll and vital energy." A shot of wheatgrass juice of 30 millilitres is as healthy as a kilo of fresh vegetables.

Suzanne's success with wheatgrass has not gone unnoticed. Traders and retailers are starting to take an interest. "I expect great opportunities for growers and traders. It is a simple crop with a short growing period, and lends itself for organic cultivation."
