Mastronardi Produce proudly accepted the 2012 Best New Vegetable Product Award  at this year’s United Fresh show in Dallas, TX for SUNSET Delano tomatoes.

The Delano tomato is slightly smaller than a regular Tomato on the Vine with much more flavor. "We added this new variety to the SUNSET family to give consumers the added value in a tomato variety that has always been in high demand" states Paul Mastronardi, President. "TOV’s have been leading the tomato category for years with one thing missing – flavor, our SUNSET brand is built on taste and quality and that’s what we want to deliver."



Over 25 fresh fruit and vegetable innovations were finalists in the 2012 New Product Awards from a long list of eligible entries. The SUNSET Delano tomatoes are packed on a recyclable tray with high graphics and then flow wrapped to protect the fruit and extend shelf life.



"The attractive packaging and fruit size that compliments mouth sized wedges makes a perfect salad component and the increased flavors all have driven the interest of retailers who are looking to exceed their customers’ expectations.
