Belgium: "Sale of BestChoice pineapple increasing"
With the import of the 'Golden Pineapple' from Costa Rica, SpecialFruit have now for 3 years had a show piece in their extended assortment in the kitchen. And the health facets increase the consumption of pineapple in Europe. SpecialFruit noted a more than considerable increase in the pineapple segment in 2011 compared to 2010.
The product manager for Exotics, Lieve Michielsen really took into account that the grower is different from other growers, because of his membership of Rainforest Alliance certificate. The most important aim of this organisation is to avoid ground erosion and to promote water economics; this in combination with a high quality level and good working conditions.
The ‘Golden Pineapple’ from Special Fruit is not given the 'BestChoice' label for nothing. Because of its very good taste, constant quality and long shelf life it is capable of being distributed within Europe all year long. The 'BestChoice' pineapple is available in sizes 5 to 10 and is packed in boxes of 11.5 kgs. with 80 per pallet. In addition they can be ordered crownless.
