Fruit Logistica started in 1993 with an area of 4,000 m2 and 100 exhibitors. These days the exhibition covers 112,000 m2. According Dr. Christian Göke, the secret of the trade fair's success is that quality has always come before quantity.

The Fruit Logistica Innovation Award was won by the sweet and seedless pepper, Angello, which is grown in Spain, Holland as well as in Italy. The second prize went to Rijk Zwaan for the social salad network Lovemysalad.com and BUD Holland came third with the Achacha fruit.
