Australia to help Uganda in fight against banana wilt
The Australian Ambassador to East Africa, Geoff Tooth, has again confirmed his nation's commitment to help in the fight against Banana Bacterial Wilt Disease in Uganda.
Whilst visiting the Presidential Initiative for Banana Industrial Development (PIBID) project located in Ishaka municipality in Bushenyi, Tooth said that he wanted to see Uganda replicate Australia's successful experiences in dealing with agricultural diseases.
Banana Bacterial Wilt has been giving Ugandan farmers so much trouble it has come to the attention of President Museveni who has urged district leaders to educate the public about it.
